Are your products cruelty free?

At beautifood, we love all animals! All of our products are cruelty free.



Are your products vegan?

Yes, our products are vegan. We use all plant-based oils.



Are your products safe for color-treated hair?

Our products are made of all natural oils, which are safe for color-treated hair. Actually, the oils may help you maintain your color longer! The oils coat your hair cuticle (the outermost part of the hair shaft). This can protect your hair from environmental factors such as sun, ocean / pool water, pollution, etc.



What hair types can use your products?

Our products are safe for ALL hair types. Depending on your hair length, texture, volume, etc. you may notice that you have to use more or less of the suggested amount.



Where are your products made?

Our products are manufactured in small batches in Southern California. All of our products are hand-poured to ensure luxurious quality. We source our raw materials from various countries to bring you the best oils. These countries include: USA, Morocco, Mexico, Chile, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Argentina.



Are your products natural?

While there is no regulated definition of "natural" by an official governing or certified organization, beautifood defines natural as this: using the most natural and/or plant-derived ingredients, with no synthetic ingredients. Our products are made of 100% plant-based oils. So therefore, YES , we consider ourselves natural.



Are your products organic?

Unfortunately, we are not yet 100% organic. 3 out of 9 of our oils are certified USDA organic. We are always continuously improving our formula and sourcing new ingredients. We hope we can one day say we are 100% organic.



Are your products clean and non-toxic?

While there is no regulated definition of "clean" or "non-toxic" by an official governing or certified organization, beautifood defines these terms as follows: Clean: ingredients that are not harmful to your health Non-toxic: free from ingredients that can harm your health or environment How are we are clean? Our ingredients are 100% plant-based oils. How are we are non-toxic? Our ingredients are free from: sulfates, parabens, silicones, phthalates, synthetic dyes, synthetic fragrance, and heavy metals. Are your products green, eco-friendly, or sustainable?

While there are no regulated definitions of "green", "eco-friendly", or "sustainable" by an official governing or certified organization, beautifood defines these terms as follows: Green: good for environment and partake in green initiatives Eco-friendly: Non-harmful to the planet Sustainable: Including being green and eco-friendly, we focus on the future and future generations. beautifood takes a holistic approach to being green, eco-friendly, and sustainable. We are eco-conscious, and we are constantly working to improve and make ourselves and our environment better. Every single part of our product is recyclable. We use 100% recyclable glass bottles, 100% compostable labels, 100% recyclable cardboard shipping boxes, and biodegrable packing peanuts. Click here to read more about our sustainable business. Do you offer samples?

No, at this time we do not offer samples. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are currently looking for eco-friendly sample solutions. We want to avoid wasteful plastic sachet samples.



What color is the oil?

The Avocado Hair Oil is a golden, yellow color. It does not have any added dyes or colorants. The color you see is 100% natural. Please store your oil in a cool, dry, and dark place for maximum storage life and maximum product effectiveness. Light can cause the oil to change color and break down the properties. Don't be alarmed if your oil changes slight color over time - this is normal. Please contact us if you have any concerns.



How long will a bottle of Avocado Hair Oil last?

The standard size Avocado Hair Oil is 2 fl. oz | 60 mL. The amount of time the bottle will last will depend on how much oil you are using. If you have thin, fine hair, you may use less oil. If you have thick, coarse, dry hair, you may use more oil. Also, it depends if you use the hair oil daily (reccomended), every other day, every few days etc. Also, depends on if you do a hair mask 1-2 times per week. Based on our average calculations, if you have medium texture and medium length hair, and you use the hair oil DAILY and do a hair mask 1-2 x per week, the hair oil should last approximately 2-4 months.



Will the oil make my hair greasy?

Short answer, no, it should not make your hair greasy. Our oil is carefully formulated and balanced with a combination of hydrating, deep moisture oils and light, dry oils. Long answer: There are many factors that can cause your hair to feel greasy. It depends on your normal hair length, texture, volume, dryness and how much oil you use. Our product contains 100% natural, REAL oils. This real oil will provide deep hydration and deliver vitamins and minerals to your hair. Many other hair products on the market today contain silicones as fillers. These silicones can cause your hair to feel "slippery" because the product is basically coating your hair with plastic. Silicones give a fake appearance of shine, and fake feel of smoothness. But in reality, silicones coat your hair, and block the real nutrients from being delivered. If you are accustomed to using products with silicones, our product may feel different at first. This is completely normal! Our hair oil contains REAL ingredients with REAL nutrients. PRO TIPS: -Remember a little oil goes a long way. -Start with a few drops and test on dry hair first to see the effect. -If you are prone to greasy hair, apply our hair oil from mid-lengths and down to end of hair, and avoid the roots.



Are your products safe for pregnant women or women who are nursing?

If you are pregnant or nursing, please consult your physician. The reason we ask you to contact your physician is because our product contains 4 absolute essential oils that we use for our scent: bergamot, grapefruit, ylang ylang, and rose. (We do not use synthetic fragrance / parfum / perfume.) We use a very low dilution of absolute essential oils (less than 2%). Use of essential oils while pregnant can be a controversial topic. Some studies show that certain essential oil smells can relax and/or stimulate you. Some doctors recommend to avoid essential oils during pregnancy, while others say they can be safe in small dose. These statements are based on our online research about essential oils and pregnancy. We cannot give you any medical guidance if you should use or should not use our product. PLEASE PLEASE consult your physician. Always safety first!
